LUKA MODRICK ACCEPTED TO JOIN REAL MADRID!

Luka Modric has agreed to join Real Madrid from Tottenham, according to Marca, a Spanish daily with strong links to the La Liga giants.

The news broke on twitter just minutes ago after Marca published the story on their website.

The 26-year-old has been at White Hart Lane since 2008, making over 150 appearances for the north Londoners. But the club’s lack of Champions League football last summer led him to request a transfer, which Spurs denied.

It now looks as though the Croatian has been granted his wish and is set to join Spanish Champions Real for £30 million.

The longer Tottenham are without a manager the longer their players are in danger of being targeted by interested parties. Daniel Levy’s side are experiencing the hardship of failing to secure a Champions League spot and the uncertainty resulting from the axing of a manager who had in fact done a stellar job at the helm.

The White Hart Lane chairman must try his hardest to fend off interest in his star performers and if the issue is generating funds for a new manager to spend then there are probably half a dozen unneeded squad players, perhaps more, to help boost the North London club’s finances. Players such as David Bentley, Heurelho Gomes, Vedran Corluka, Giovani dos Santos, Jermaine Jenas, Sebastien Bassong and Steven Pienaar to name just seven.

Modric excelled at Euro 2012 even though Croatia failed to make it out of the group stages. The pint sized playmaker was especially excellent against Spain when for long periods he ruled the midfield despite the presence of luminaries like Xavi and Andres Iniesta.
