Leaving hotel ... Rihanna
Optic RIHANNA has cancelled a gig following the recent death of her beloved grandmother — and is thought to be rushing home to be by her mother's side.
The What's My Name singer was snapped leaving a London hotel today and heading to the airport, later tweeting a picture of herself about to board a private plane.
She covered her face with a huge pair of dark sunglasses and a fitted cap, and draped her frame in a large black T-shirt.
She wrote online: "Coming home to squeeze ya mama", suggesting she was heading back to Barbados to be with her family.
The organisers of the Rock In Rio show, at which Rihanna was due to perform this week, have confirmed she will not be appearing.
Rihanna was plunged into mourning last week when 80-year-old relative Clara Braithwaite lost her battle with cancer.
She tweeted at the time: “F***. Goodbye Gran Gran Dolly. Get your beauty rest until I see you.”
And while she performed at a concert in Borlange, Sweden, the same night, fans blasted her for her shambolic gig.
One wrote: “Don’t feel like seeing Rihanna under the influence. Who let her on in this state?”
Another said: “How can you be so bad? Crowd walked out.”
Some accused her of miming while drunk, with one branding her “disgusting and shameful” for playing to young fans in her state.
