New American Idol judge ... rapper Nicki Minaj
RAPPER Nicki Minaj and country singer Keith Urban have signed up as judges on American Idol.
They will join singer Mariah Carey and original judge Randy Jackson on the panel of the 12th series of the show, which is screened on ITV2 in the UK.The new line-up follows the departures earlier this year of Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler and singer Jennifer Lopez after two years on the show.
Bosses hope the refreshed line-up will boost ratings, which dived 20 per cent last year.
Auditions for the next series start this week and they will be aired early next year.
